The Morning Call of Allentown, PA, was looking for an upscale identity with a funky vibe for a new bi-monthly magazine publication that targeted mid to high-income adults in the Lehigh Valley. I paired a condensed sans-serif font with a hand-lettered brushed “g” character that served as an identifiable mark throughout the publication and in promotional materials. In addition to brand design and standards, I designed, and art directed a small team of designers and photographers for each magazine issue. [I think I should put something about the magazine’s design here]. Every other month the issues featured stories about local restaurants and businesses geared to the target audience, product purchasing suggestions, travel tips, seasonally relevant reporting, Q&A interviews with local entrepreneurs, and more.
